Lucy's Inspiration Week Day 5

Just popping in to share a quick card I created from Lucy's Inspiration Week, Day 5 photo.  You can read more about it here but here's the photo!
It's a photo of her adorable daughter's playmate.  Fun, huh!

And, here is my card.

I went with the baby theme and used some scraps of paper that I had in my stash.
The adorable lion is from Papertrey Ink, Sweet Baby and the sentiments are from Glory Be.

Very fun!
Thanks for the inspiration Lucy!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Star(dust) Shell-ebrate

I can't stop myself.
I just had to use this little turtle!
He's (or She's) just so darn cute!

I went back and forth on this card.  I must admit it was in pieces on my desk for a very long time.  I couldn't be happier with the end result.  I love the non-traditional sparkle behind the star and the fact that nothing besides the ribbon is straight.
(Even the star is just slightly tilted.  I did that on purpose!)

Everything is adhered with dimensional adhesive to give it extra interest, although it's a little hard to see in the photo.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

It's Your Baa-thday

Hysterical.
Paper Smooches Party Posse cracks me up.
Every time.
Without fail.

I'm obsessed.

Anyways, here's my baa-thday card.
I've really been trying to get away from what I am comfortable with... incorporating different design elements and layers.  I'm having so much fun.

I love clean and simple but I am loving this too.
It's so much fun to branch out and try something new.
:)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Huge Birthday Dino Wishes

I'm back again with another card featuring one of Paper Smooches latest stamp sets, Party Posse.
I've used this stamp set way more than I ever thought I would have.  Oh my goodness, I LOVE IT.
I had planned to paper piece the t-rex but after I started out, I just loved the way he looked completely untouched...  and I never could bare to cover him up.  So, he's naked.  :)
I found THIS card and had to try something similar.   I took what I had already finished, made a few tweaks, and made it my own.

The handmade button is by Jane.

Cupid

I love this little cupid.  Isn't he just adorable!
He's by We R Memory Keepers, from the Love Struck collection.

I paired him with a clean cardstock punched out with a 1" hole punch to make clouds and Papertrey Ink sentiment.

I kept it really clean & simple.
I love how this turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Hamster Valentine

Oh my goodness.
I'm in heaven.

Paper Smooches Party Posse (here) could not make me smile any bigger.
I think I actually jumped up and down when I got my latest Paper Smooches order in the mail.
...and then my husband caught me petting them!

I've been twitching to ink up this lil hamster so I decided to work it into one of Lucy's sketches, finally deciding upon sketch No. 4
Great sketch Lucy.  Thanks for the fun!
I knew exactly how I wanted to incorporate the sentiment so it actually went pretty fast.

And here's what I came up with.
YAY!  I actually followed the sketch, well... for the most part I did!
I used some adorable Echo Park paper for the background and MME paper for the hamster and then popped him and the word bubble up on dimensional adhesive.

I'm also linking this up to the Young Crafters Unite challenge for Clean & Simple.
You can see more about the challenge here

Tuesday Trigger: By The Numbers

It's Tuesday Trigger time at Moxie Fab World.
It's been awhile since I've played in one of these and with this weeks inspiration, I absolutely had to play.
I had lots of ideas for this and after more than a few stamping tries, here's what I came up with.
Since I'm determined to make every card I make this year giveable I wanted to do either (1) a baby card or (2) a birthday card.  I love those numbers!  eek!  I still might give this another whirl for a baby card but here's the birthday card.
I absolutely love how the sentiment and balloon come together.
Just a little something different.

I used probably my favorite sentiment ever from Paper Smooches Chit Chat (here) and the balloon is from Lawn Fawn Admit One (here).  All of those numbers are from My Cute Stamps Birthday Numbers (here) stamped in various inks and colored in.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Let's Chat

 Okay, I have a confession.
I found a piece of 12x12 Doodlebug paper that I am completely obsessed with.
I've used it on probably all 5 of the last cards I've created.

In case you are wondering, it's Doodlebug's Santa's Workshop Pretty Pointsettias.
But it's the reverse side that I am so smitten with.

It's the perfect shade & polka dot size.
*sigh*
All things I am very picky about.

Anyhow, I used that paper to paper piece the phone from Paper Smooches Perpetual Bliss (here) stamp set.
Doesn't every girl want a red with white polka dot phone?
I sure do.

This card followed Sketch No. 5 by Lucy, albeit rather loosely, but still...  i tried. :)
I turned it on it's side, piled my two things on top of each other and then for placement reasons I had to move the sentiment above, instead of below.

I used my Tiny Attacher and the Papertrey Ink Notebook die but chopped it short and turned it to resemble actual paper.  I love that it looks like a piece of paper that's been stapled to the wall...

Thanks for stopping by & have a great day!

Lucy's Sketch Challenge #2

I love sketches but am terrible at them.
One of my New Years crafty resolutions is to try more of the stuff I am terrible at so I'll be attempting to conquer a few things I generally don't do.

Oh, this is funny...
Another New Years crafty resolution is to clean up my craft room whenever I stop crafting.
(Not when I'm done... but whenever I stop.  I'm never "done" crafting!)
:)
HA!  We'll see how long that one lasts.

Lucy is providing sketches again and I had to play along.
Here's Lucy's Sketch for challenge No. 2:
Fantastic sketch, isn't it!

For my card, I really wanted to find two of something.

I pulled out the Tiny and Tremendous Treats: Valentine but realized that the pail & shovel ARE two things.  That counts, right?:)

Then I put Tiny Treats away (since I'm cleaning up while crafting too) and went to town.
I looked at my background papers but settled on breaking the sketch and opted for the Heart Border die from Papertrey Ink.  Sigh.  That heart border die just makes me happy.    I stitched the end to bring the sketch back in... that counts for something, right?
I love that paper pieced pail, especially the red polka dot shovel.
I have a paper piecing addiction.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the sketch Lucy.
Have a great day!

Tremendous Treats: Airplane

The entire reason why I had to buy Papertrey Ink's Tremendous Treats: Valentine is for the airplane.

Aviation is a huge part of my family.  HUGE.
My grandfather was a pilot for Lockheed Martin and the CIA, my mother is a private pilot, and then half of my in-laws, my husband and myself all work in the aircraft manufacturing business.

So, when I saw this airplane, I gasped.
Then, when I saw Maile's card here my jaw literally hit the floor.
It could be my favorite card ever.

I wanted to do something similar because I love those clouds.
So, here's what I did...
Instead of popping all the clouds up with dimensional adhesive, I used the cloud dies to create some negative die cut clouds and then popped one up on top.  I love how this looks in person.
I decided to paper piece my airplane because who cute is that red polka dot airplane?!?!?
Then, I finished it off with the coordinating sentiment from Tiny Treats: Valentine.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy New Years & a card

HAPPY 2012!
I'm so excited for this year.
I have nothing big planned but it's still going to be a great year.
I can feel it in my bones.

Lots of resolutions (paper crafting and non) and ideas for this year...
Can't wait.
:)

To the card...

I created this card just for fun and as it was in scraps I noticed if I tweaked a few things it would fit perfectly in with the latest Paper Smooches Sparks challenge.
Paper crafting resolution No. 1 for the year:
Only create cards for which I have a reason to give.
I can totally give this card!
:)
I used Paper Smooches Sunny Side Up for the sun & clouds and the sentiment is from Giddy Bugs.  Lots of baker's twine to incorporate the rainbow and as a nod to the grey, which I love, I stamped off the black ink once to get the grey shade for the clouds and the sentiment.  A half a pack of dimensional adhesive later, I have a card.
For the final touch, I added shine spray.
Sigh, I love that stuff!

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you again really soon.
:)
